By goal · Detox & Circulation

Sweat, circulation, and a lighter body.

Thirty minutes of radiant warmth that brings on sweating and supports circulation, session after session.

I · The problem

The body's own systems need a reason to work.

A day spent mostly sitting still doesn't give circulation or sweating much reason to happen.

A far infrared cabin gives the body thirty warm minutes to sweat, and — as the vessels beneath the skin respond to warmth — to circulate. It is a straightforward, repeatable session, not a cleanse or a program.

II · How it works

Warmth the body responds to directly.

Infrared emitters warm the body directly rather than only the surrounding air, bringing on sweating and a rise in circulation over a thirty-minute session inside a Canadian hemlock cabin.

III · What the research suggests

Cardiovascular and circulation research.

General far-infrared and sauna research — not a study of a Zazen session specifically — has examined cardiovascular measures and skin circulation:

In a 15-year Finnish population study of 1,688 adults, more frequent sauna bathing was associated with lower cardiovascular mortality.1

In animal research, far-infrared exposure was associated with increased skin microcirculation, an effect that appeared to involve nitric-oxide-related vasodilation rather than heat alone — evidence from animal studies; human confirmation is limited.2

IV · A simple routine

Start gently. Let it become routine.

  1. 1 Begin with a twenty-minute session.
  2. 2 Build toward thirty minutes.
  3. 3 Use three to four times a week — daily sessions are fine too.
  4. 4 Hydrate, and allow time to cool down afterwards.
  5. 5 Some people notice a short adjustment period of three to five days.
